Falls Creek Waterproofing Roofing Membrane for YMCA Victoria

Project Overview: Falls Creek Waterproofing Roofing Membrane

Melbourne Protective Coatings completed a specialised waterproofing roofing membrane project at Howmans Gap Alpine Centre in Falls Creek for YMCA Victoria.

Located in the ski mountains of rural Victoria near the top of Falls Creek, this remote facility required urgent roofing works to address leaks and ageing metal sheeting.

The objective was to restore and protect the roof using a waterproofing roofing membrane system rather than proceeding with full roof replacement.

The Challenge

The metal roof had developed active leaks, and sections of the sheeting were beginning to age and rust. Due to its elevated Falls Creek location, access and logistics added significant cost pressures.

YMCA Victoria had received a re-roofing quote close to half a million dollars - more than triple the cost of a restoration system. If left untreated for several more seasons, replacement would have been the only viable option.

The challenge was to deliver a durable waterproofing roofing membrane solution that could stop leaks, address corrosion, and protect the roof without requiring full replacement.

The Solution: Waterproofing Roofing Membrane System

Melbourne Protective Coatings implemented a proven anti-corrosion waterproofing roofing membrane system tailored to the Falls Creek site.

Rather than replacing the roof, we restored the existing metal surface using a system designed to seal leaks and encapsulate rust, providing long-term protection at a fraction of the replacement cost.

Featured Product: Noxyde Anti-Corrosion Waterproofing Membrane

Noxyde Anti-Corrosion Waterproofing Membrane®

Noxyde is a high-build elastomeric membrane designed for long-term corrosion resistance, waterproofing, and rust stabilisation on metal roofs.

Its direct-to-rust adhesion, 200% flexibility, and ability to seal small cracks make it ideal for aging commercial roofs where replacement would be costly or disruptive.

The seamless membrane forms a durable protective barrier that stops ongoing corrosion, prevents leaks, and extends the overall service life of the roof.

The Result

The completed waterproofing roofing membrane system successfully addressed leaks and ageing metal sheeting at the Howmans Gap Alpine Centre in Falls Creek.

Completed waterproofing roofing membrane system at Falls Creek facility

By choosing restoration over replacement, YMCA Victoria avoided a re-roofing cost and saved over $300,000 dollars when compared to replacement while securing a professionally installed waterproofing roofing membrane solution designed to extend the life of the existing roof.

The Falls Creek facility is now sealed, protected, and safeguarded against further deterioration, delivered efficiently despite the challenges of its remote mountain location.
