Roof Cooling
Membranes for a Sustainable
Cost-Efficient Chill
Melbourne Protective Coatings cool roof technology provides heat protection against extreme temperatures and will actively reduce your energy costs. Our tests show that even on moderate days we can lower the surface temperature of your roof by over 30 degrees. Getting your roof resurfaced by MPC means it won't just look great for years to come, but it means you keep more of your money where it belongs - in your hands away from the electricity providers.
HIGH ACCESS PAINTING
Our team of highly experienced painters are fully qualified to work at any required height and have experience with cranes, booms, scaffold, scissor lifts and abseiling.
REDUCE YOUR BILLS
Our cool roof coatings are so effective that our clients have seen noticeable differences to their summer energy usage. This isn't just great news for our customers, it's also great news for the environment as air conditioners are responsible for huge amounts of carbon emissions. We'll help you save money, you can help save the world!
COOLER SUMMERS
Feel the difference every time you step back inside during summer, your house naturally cooler and without the need for air conditioning. On extreme days we've seen roofs as much as 50 degrees cooler on the surface, with that heat reflected back instead of being absorbed into the roof cavity.
PROTECTION FROM RUST
A new coat also provides additional protection from the elements, including the ability for moisture to penetrate your roof. This can help reduce the chance for things like rust or mould to take hold and cause damage.

QUESTIONS
What is a heat-reflective roof membrane?
A heat-reflective roof membrane is a roofing material designed to reflect a significant portion of the sun's infrared and ultraviolet radiation, reducing heat absorption and keeping the building cooler.
Does it really save me on energy bills?
Absolutely, the cool roof system lowers the temperature of the roof by reflecting more heat back towards the sun. This means your home or business will stay naturally cooler for longer throughout the day, and it means your air conditioner doesn't need to work anywhere near as hard to keep it cool when it becomes required.
What is the temperature difference?
On moderate days, of around 25 degrees, our tests saw the surface temperature of some roofs drop by as much as 30 degrees celsius. More extreme days have shown drops of around 50 degrees celsius. The temperature drop is impacted by a number of factors including the material used for the roof and whether or not it receives shade, at all, during the day.
How does a heat-reflective roof membrane work?
It typically contains reflective materials or coatings that bounce sunlight away, preventing the roof from absorbing and transferring heat into the building. This helps in maintaining lower indoor temperatures and reducing energy consumption.
Does it only benefit warm climates?
No, they can be beneficial in both warm and cold climates. In cold climates, they may help prevent heat loss during winter by reflecting heat back into the building.
IS IT SAFE TO COLLECT RAINWATER?
Yes it is, once applied our membrane is perfectly safe for potable water. In some cases it’s even safer especially if your metal roof was previously rusty.
