The exterior of a commercial building does more than create a positive first impression. It acts as the first line of defence against Melbourne's changing weather conditions, helping protect the building's surfaces from moisture, UV exposure and everyday wear.
Over time, the exterior of this commercial property in Glen Iris had begun to show signs of weathering, with faded coatings affecting both its appearance and the level of protection provided to the rendered and non-rendered surfaces.
Melbourne Protective Coatings was engaged to restore the building’s exterior.
Before any coatings were applied, we assessed the condition of the building's rendered and non-rendered exterior surfaces.
The existing coatings showed visible signs of weathering and fading across the façade. To ensure the new coating system performed as intended, both surface types required thorough preparation before new coatings could be applied.

Following surface preparation, we applied a high-performance exterior coating system across the building's rendered and non-rendered surfaces. Different coating systems were used for each substrate to provide a durable finish and long-term protection against Melbourne's weather conditions.

Two coats of Dulux Acratex were applied to the rendered surfaces. This high-build elastomeric membrane is designed to provide excellent durability and crack-bridging performance, making it well suited to rendered exterior façades.

Two coats of Dulux Weathershield were applied to the non-rendered surfaces. Designed for Australian conditions, it provides a tough, weather-resistant finish that helps protect exterior surfaces while maintaining their appearance.

The completed project gave this Glen Iris commercial building a refreshed, professional appearance while improving the protection of its rendered and non-rendered exterior surfaces.
The new coating system provides a durable finish that is well suited to Melbourne's changing weather conditions. The result is an exterior that looks revitalised while offering long-term protection for the years ahead.
