Florsheim’s primary Melbourne distribution centre in Tottenham was experiencing severe roof leaks, resulting in merchandise losses exceeding a million dollars. A full roof replacement was not a viable option due to its high cost and the potential business disruption. Melbourne Protective Coatings (MPC) was subcontracted by TOPPS Australia to collaborate with Programmed in applying a high-performance waterproofing membrane across two expansive roofs, covering over 10,000m2.
The factory’s aging roof had multiple penetrations, leaking joins, and failing seals, requiring a cost-effective yet durable solution. The challenge was to restore roof protection while avoiding costly downtime or forcing the tenant to relocate. Working at such a large scale also demanded precise planning and execution to maintain efficiency and safety.
